FINAL ASSESSMENTS

The end of term is very near. You need to make sure you have finished your blogs by Friday 25th March There are 10 blogs this term to complete. Now you have to prepare a 10 minute presentation on one of the topics you have covered this term:

• Food and Drink
• Education
• The Media
• The Welfare System
• The NHS
• Crime and Justice/ The Police/ Legal System
• Sport

Your focus is Britain, of course, but you can make a comparison with your own country too.

Bring your draft presentations and your laptops to class next week 28th March to H328 for checking and practising. Your presentations will be on 4th April.

Sport in the UK

1. Some of the most popular sports played in the UK are:

Find one famous sporting venue associated with each of these sports.

Which do you think is the most unusual sport and why? Do you have any un usual sports in your country?

The Legal System

There is a lot of information on Police.homeoffice.gov.uk. Look for an interesting video on a particular type of crime and find out how the crime is dealt with and the punishment that is given.

Knife crime amongst young people is a big concern for the Police in the UK. Tackling this problem is one of their major tasks.
Read the summary of Brooke Kinsella's report and comment on the recommendations made, giving your own opinion on the subject. Go to http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/. Choose crime then knife,gun and gang related violence. Brooke Kinsella's brother, Ben, was a victim of knife crime. Find out what happened to him in 2008.
